ECB gives green light for UniCredit to take control of Commerzbank

(ANSA) – ROME, 15 OTT – UniCredit has received authorization from the European Central Bank to exceed a 30% equity stake in Commerzbank and to further increase its holdings, with no maximum limit. The completion of the remaining regulatory steps and the fulfillment of the conditions necessary to finalize the offer for Commerzbank are expected toward the end of the year; at that point, UniCredit will hold approximately 50% of the voting rights in Commerzbank and will be in a position to assume control of the bank.
